MICHIGAN: Republican hopefuls, this time include former actor and
Senator Fred Thompson, debated in Michigan over the economy,
the war in Iraq, and "fluffier" items like the death penalty.
Political pundits were quick to label Thompson's debut as
a disappointment, a common problem when an actor leaves a
popular TV series. Former Mayor Rudolph Guiliani fared a
bit better from his earlier appearances on Saturday Night
Live, back when it was funny.
Mike Huckabee's short-lived career as a voice actor for
the cartoon series "Huckabee Hound" was not mentioned.
