IRAQ: President Bush made a surprise appearance in Iraq
over the weekend, suggesting that some American troops
could start to return home if the country's security improves.
"Now the situation has changed where I'm able to speculate
on the hypothetical," said Bush. "If Iraq's forces continue
to improve, American forces will be able to come home. Of
course, for now, that's hypothetical, but I hope it's enough
to help Republicans this November."
Bush will be leaving Iraq to go to the summit meeting in
Australia of Asia-Pacific countries.
